I first came across this meme “Down the tbr hole” on Sara’s blog and just loved the idea. I have been on a major decluttering spree so this meme plays right into that.
Down the tbr hole: The rules
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Current tally Keep: 7 Toss: 6
Down the tbr hole: Do I stay or do I go?
For this meme I am picking 10 books starting at the bottom of my Goodreads tbr and deciding if I want to keep them on my tbr or give them the axe. Time to have some fun!
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
This one is a toss. It previously sounded okay, I really just added it because it was popular. Now however it doesn’t sound like something I would enjoy reading.
Faeries by Brian Froud and Alan Lee
Keep! I actually have a tattoo of the fairie on this books cover. I love mythology and folklore and beautiful pictures so I don’t see how this one could be a fail for me.
Bossypants by Tina Fey
I’m not sure on this one. I enjoyed Tina Fey in Mean Girls but she has never been someone I have gravitated towards. I’ll go with Toss.
Bridget Jones Diary by Helen Fielding
Toss. I can not toss this one fast enough. A woman who thinks she’s too fat because she’s 123 pounds….. lol. Hard pass, just no. Not now, not ever. This one can not go fast enough down the tbr hole.
The Devil wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
Toss! Along with Bridget Jones I can not toss this fast enough or far enough. I thought the movie was sketchy, I definitely don’t want to read the book. Seriously? Anyone else wonder how 1 outfit all of a sudden make Andi really stylish and incredible at her job? .. just me? Okay then.
The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks
Toss! I toss this one so hard and so far, no! Just no! I know I’m on the very unpopular end but I did NOT find The Notebook romantic. It’s lusty, and abusive. But that’s just my personal opinion.
In her shoes by Jennifer Weiner
Keep! I loved this movie. Yes, I realize it has it’s faults (like fat shaming) but at its core it’s about the relationship between two sisters, overcoming tragedy and family love.
Where the Heart is by Billie Letts
Keep! This book has community, overcoming challenges, friendship and the will to survive.
The Christmas Shoes by Donna VanLiere
Toss! I’m sure I’ll get some “boos” for this. I know the song, I’ve seen the movie. I don’t feel the need to read the book.
See Me by Nicholas Sparks
Toss. I am not really a Nicholas Sparks fan, I honestly have no interest in reading anymore of his books.
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
Toss! I don’t care for Cassandra Clares writing style, it’s just not for me. I tried reading City of Bones and found it extremely painful to try any get through. So, no thank you.
Keep: 3 making my total so far 10
Toss: 8 making my current total 14
My bad, I meant to pick 10 books but ended up doing 11. Lol, oh well. What are your thoughts on my keeps and tosses? Did I keep or toss any of your favorites? Let me know down in the comments below.
Till next time book friends,
