8 bookish ways to practice self care

Spread the love

Hello, and welcome to my new book blog! This is my second post so thank you for taking the time to check out my little space on the internet.

Today’s post is about self care. Self care is SO important and honestly often gets put on the back burner for people. You spend your day at your job and then come home and take care of your family, home or pets. Where’s the “you time?”.

Here is a quick list of easy ways to practice self care.

1,  Do a face mask. Face masks are easy to do. You can even wear them while doing housework or reading a book. I suggest a detox or hydration mask.

2,  Read a book. This one is probably coming as a no brainer seeing as this is a book blog. Treat yourself to that new ebook you’ve been dieing to read. Have a book you’ve been eyeballing just sitting on your shelf? Give it a go!

3,  Take a bath. If you’re like me and put your arms in the bath water than obviously don’t read a paper or ebook. Lol. My go to for bath time reading is audiobooks. I tend to borrow mine from the library so I just listen to them on Overdrive. Its a great way to relax and read at the same time.

4,  clean out your inbox.  I know a lot of people (like my husband) do not regularly go through their emails. Why not take this chance to do just that. Delete all those pesky emails that are clogging up your inbox.

5,  Respond to those emails. While you are cleaning out your inbox why not respond to all those emails that are waiting for you. It may be a daunting task but you will feel so much better after it’s done.

6, Go through your bookshelf.  A few months ago I went through all my physical books and donated about 700. Yes, I got rid of about 700 books, and do you know what? It felt great! I found it very overwhelming having all those books. Now I have about 150 physical books.

7,  Organize your bookshelf.  Do you continually watch bookshelf tours on YouTube? Do you envy other people’s beautiful bookshelf layout? Why not do that for yourself! Always wanted to try rainbow shelves? Well theres no time like the present.

8,  Enjoy a hot beverage. With Autumn fast approaching (at least in the northern hemisphere) its getting to that perfect time to curl up with a fuzzy blanket, put on your reading socks and enjoy a hot beverage of your choosing. My go to is hot chocolate or herbal tea. I have this fantastic honeycrisp apple tea from David’s tea that is perfect for times like this.

Well those are just 8 ways to practice self care. What are some ways you practice self care? Let me know in the comments below

Till next time

    1. I approve of your drink choices Hannah ;-). I love peppermint mixed with hot chocolate. Sadly I’m one of those adults that can’t do alcohol (can’t mix with my meds) so all my drinks have to be virgin. …….. and now I want Peppermint hot chocolate. Lol

    1. Yes and yes Pam. It is so easy to do, and it doesn’t matter if you have it on a couple extra minutes while you finish the chapter. Lol

    1. I completely agree Chantal. Hot beverages are like a warm hug for your tummy. Lol. Plus they are so soothing. Autumn is my favorite season, so I’m pretty excited 🙂

    1. Thanks Beth, I was going for easy to do. It urks be when I see “10 things you can do for whatever” and there expensive or leave you thinking ??????. Lol

  1. OH MY GOSH, YES. All of these are such essentials to self care for me. I absolutely adore all of these things. Hot beverages are a must and sooth me like no other, but so does a nice soak in the bath and face mask and HONESTLY, all of these? I’m literally just parroting back all of these things but ugh, relatable and so wonderful.
